Don't compete with sports, there's a better way

The season of crazy is upon us. As life picks up the pace and calendars get full, and demands on time and energy increase, many families will find themselves in an unending cycle of being...stressed... stretched...rushed...tired
...overwhelmed... over-committed...pulled apart...burnt out. No wonder church attendance becomes sporadic in spring.

At this time, it can be so tempting to offer "bait," a big event of some sort that will lure over-scheduled children into our church building. But we need to ask ourselves: Is this really the best thing for our families at this time?

EASY AS 1-2-3 CHRISTMAS // part 3

The Christmas Cookie Contest is the third component of our church’s beloved tradition The Christmas Experience. Even though we call it a contest, it has very little to do with competition and everything to do with cultivating relationships and a sense of community. OK, it is a little friendly competition (emphasis on little) but it feels more like a fun cookie party that inspires good times and goodwill.

EASY AS 1-2-3 CHRISTMAS // part 2

Each Christmas is filled with incredible opportunities to touch people’s lives on a deep level. This is your moment. A chance every year to spread the news of Jesus Christ coming to earth as a tiny baby, wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. You can pull off some amazing things because people’s hearts are already open and yearning.

The Christmas Experience is a time when families can catch their breath, make fond memories and reclaim the warmth and charm of Christmas. This 3-part series will give you everything you need  to offer the families in your community a beautiful gift—a chance to slow down amidst the holiday hustle and bustle, and enjoy meaningful moments with their children while building mangers, competing in a cookie bake-off or creating edible structures.
